Triple jump omission sets Glasgow back

ATHLETICS: The absence of a female triple jumper in their ranks cost Glasgow Cobras the opportunity of a shock victory in yesterday's McCain City Challenge in Sheffield. Leading the eight teams headed into the final event, Glasgow paid the price for the omission, dropping to fourth as London North took the honours in the first leg of the two-part indoor series.

However, Chris Baillie won the 60 metres hurdles in 7.84 seconds.

Lee McConnell emerged with maximum points from the 200m in 23.73 seconds. Eilish McColgan was pipped by Orla Drumm in the 1500m; David Smith moved into third on the Scottish high jump list with 2.20m, while Holly Bleasdale failed to set a UK pole vault record of 4.61m.
