Charles Green and George Soros line up bid for Rangers, Aberdeen say title not on agenda and £10m Fraser Forster fee agreed with Southampton.

Charles Green, the former Rangers chief executive, is raising funds to invest in the Scottish Championship club.

The former owner told BBC Sport he has raised nearly £10m with the aim of stabilising the club, which he said was in a perilous position.

Green said he would not be seeking a return to Rangers in an official capacity, but called the club “one of the world’s biggest brands”, adding that he had gathered a group of investors ready to sign up to his venture.

Fraser Forster heading to Southampton for £10m

Fraser Forster is heading to Southampton for a medical after a fee believed to be around £10 million was last night accepted by Celtic.

The Scottish champions had turned down one offer from the English Premier League club for the 26-year-old goalkeeper. The move will now proceed subject to a successful medical on the south coast this weekend, with personal terms also reported to have been agreed.

Forster’s former club Newcastle – from whom Celtic signed the player for £2m –will receive 25 per cent of the transfer fee. (Scotsman)

Two groups competing to take control of Hibs

Two separate proposals have been put before Hibernian to buy out owner Sir Tom Farmer and take control of the club, it emerged last night.

But the pressure group is not the only group actively trying to buy out Farmer. A consortium has stepped forward and is understood to include former chairman Malcolm McPherson, and businessmen Frank Lynch and David Low – the latter a key figure in developing the strategy which enabled Fergus McCann to take over Celtic in 1994. Livingston face SFA rap over director

Livingston have been hit with several Scottish Football Association charges relating to key shareholder Neil Rankine.

The Scottish Championship club have been accused of failing to disclose that Rankine, described by the SFA as shareholder of parent company Livingston 5 Ltd, also holds interests in Championship rivals Dumbarton along with East Fife. (Scotsman)
