Cricket: Chalmers pads up for sixes

Euan Chalmers will make his first appearance at this year's Scottish indoor cricket sixes in a Watsonian team captained by fellow internationalist Stuart Chalmers (no relation) when the tournament continues at the National Academy, Ravelston, tonight.

'Sonians, who also give a run to Mark Yellowlees, are in a pool with Heriot's and Edinburgh Accies and all three sides are in with a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages after the initial ties last month.

Heriot's include Gavin McIntyre and Chris Goddard, two of the stars of their previous outing, and also list Rajed Java, Calum McDougall, Ged Case and Chris Jones.

Points gained in the opening round-robins carry over and Accies lead with 13; Watsonians are on 12 and Heriot's have 11.

In last week's ties Grange beat both East Academy and Murrayfield DAFS.

However, individual honours went to Murrayfield's Sam Fergusson with the first half century of this year's competition as East Academy were defeated.
