Easter Weekend weather: Scotland's forecast hour-by-hour, here's what the weather will look like with 'dramatic' cold front on the way

Dry and settled weather is initially predicted with a ‘dramatic change’ expected as a cold front with potential snow showers sweeps southwards across Scotland by Easter Sunday.

High pressure will continue to bring us plenty of dry and settled weather today and Saturday in Scotland, however, a ‘noticeable change’ to our weather will come on Easter Sunday as we can expect to see a cold front sweeping southwards, according to weather experts from MeteoGroup.

Friday

A ‘chilly start is expected this Good Friday’ with more frosts to come in the coming nights, according to the Met Office

Scotland’s weather for the Easter Weekend.

A ‘pleasant’ Easter bank holiday weekend is expected across the UK but will be ‘a lot cooler than it has been’, says the Met Office.

Although cloud will appear across Northern Scotland at 7am this morning, April 2, it is expected to be a dry and frosty start for many of us with a few spells of morning sunshine.

This follows a widespread frost formed last night across Scotland with temperatures reaching to -2° in the west of Scotland at around 4am.

The Met Office predicted many in rural areas of Scotland will wake up to a ‘touch of frost’ this morning with freezing temperatures.

As we head through today, it will brighten up across the Northern Isles and come the afternoon it is expected to a clear and bright day with plenty of sunshine.

It will still feel cool across the country due to a fresh Northerly wind particularly in the east coast with an increase in cloud for a while down towards Edinburgh and the south east as the day goes on but this will break up as we head into the evening.

Plenty of sunshine is predicted for the north east and west of Scotland and across the West Isles with temperatures up to 10°.

By Friday evening, it will be drier with lengthy clear clouds across Scotland, however we will then see more clouds pushing into the very far north as Saturday morning begins which could potentially produce the occasional spot of light rain in these areas overnight.

Saturday

On Saturday, April 3, a dry and frosted start is predicted by MeteoGroup with sunny spells for many.

The patch of cloud will continue in the North of Scotland which will be maintained in the Western and Northern Isles throughout Saturday.

Overall, it will be a clear and pleasant day with highs of 13° or 12° in certain parts of Scotland such as Aberdeen and Glasgow.

Sunday

Yet, then a ‘dramatic change’ will come to Scotland on Easter Sunday from a cold front due to northern winds with rain sinking southwards in Scotland.

The Met Office commented that freezing temperatures faced in Scotland on Sunday are “cold enough for snow and hail showers.”

Judith Ralston, BBC weather forecaster, said: “The Artic air will get its claws into us bringing plenty of cold conditions, windy conditions and some wintry showers.”
