Edinburgh murder accused 'fled to London'

A MURDER accused left his wife's body in the bath and fled to London the High Court in Perth has heard.

Yahya Babiker admitted trying to carry his wife Randa Kamblawi's body from the bath to the bedroom but gave up because there was too much blood.

During a police interview after his arrest, Babiker admitted leaving the 34-year-old student in the bath and leaving their two young children with a relative in the middle of the night.

The 45-year-old Sudanese national told the police that he had pushed his wife back in the bath when she said the water was cold and she had fallen over and hit her head.

Babiker, a prisoner at HMP Edinburgh, has denied murdering his wife by hitting her with a hammer at her Nicolson Street, Edinburgh, home.

The trial continues.
