Author hits out at royal 'philistines'

THE Royal Family are "philistines", according to novelist Martin Amis, above.

The author of Money and London Fields told a French magazine, said of the royal wedding that "there's indeed something which doesn't work in this story".

He added: "One can't make one's children go through everything which a wedding like this entails: not only the loss of one's private life, but also the sacrifice of oneself pure and simple."
