Up & Coming: The Secret Sisters

Who are The Secret Sisters? The quite openly sisterly harmony duo of Laura and Lydia Rogers, who hail from Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

What's the story?

Like all good southern gals, they first learned to harmonise in church but had never considered a professional career until Laura aced an audition in Nashville, mentioned she had a sister and the pair were whisked off to LA to start demoing.

What's the hype?

Elton John, Elvis Costello, Willie Nelson and Jack White are recent collaborators (and fans). T Bone Burnett loves them so much he formed a label to release their self-titled debut album, and assumed an executive producer role.

What's the sound?

A blend of country standards by the likes of Hank Williams, George Jones and Buck Owens and kindred originals penned by Laura, all recorded on vintage microphones and analogue equipment for that old-time vibe.

What the girls say:

"We don't want to be limited. If we wanted to make a record that sounds like Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga, we could do that" – Laura Rogers

What other folks say:

"I have been making music for over 40 years and the Secret Sisters album is as close to pure as it gets" – T Bone Burnett
